The need for a great cover design is even higher for an information product like yours. Your cover needs to establish that the product you are selling is a real thing, worth your customers' real money. If they don't know you already, then your cover also needs to impart an air of credibility.
Getting your nephew or your mate to do it isn't going to get you that credibility. Hiring amateurs is probably worse than what your nephew would give you.
